What are the differences between a cigar and a cigarillo?

Cigar smokers are not necessarily fans of cigarillos and vice versa. Be careful, in some countries, cigars and cigarillos can be called the same way, because a "cigarillo" defines "small cigar", however, we must be careful not to make confusion. Size and weight

It is the very first difference that we can notice with the naked eye. Indeed, a cigarillo is much thinner than a cigar. Its diameter is limited to 1,2 cm. As for its weight, it can not exceed 3 g. The cigar on its side, can largely exceed these values.

The type of tobacco

It is necessary to be a little more expert to find the second difference between cigars and cigarillos, since it concerns the type of tobacco used. Cigars, on the other hand, have a filler composed of 3 to 5 tobacco leaves from the same or different regions. In any case, they are whole and the wrapper is composed of a superior quality tobacco leaf that is immediately noticeable by its smooth and uniform texture.

The manufacturing method

Cigarillos are mostly made by machines. This is why production costs are limited and prices can be controlled. On the other hand, cigars, even if there are some that are industrially made, are mainly rolled by hand.

The physical aspect

A cigarillo is ready to use, that is to say that, with the exception of the little Camacho cigars, its two ends are already cut. Cigars, on the other hand, must be stubbed before being consumed.

The price

It is a difference that will not escape anyone: a cigarillo, as high end as it is, will always remain cheaper than a cigar of average range. This price difference also places the cigar in the position of a luxury product that is savored, whereas the cigarillo is rather adapted to a more frequent and regular consumption.

The tasting

When tasted, a cigar develops much more aromas than a cigarillo. This is mainly due to its premium tobacco leaves, as well as to the more advanced fermentation of the leaves. A smoker who does not have much time in front of him can enjoy a premium cigarillo, it will take him between 10 and 15 minutes, much like a cigarette. On the contrary, a cigar smoker will have to have 30 minutes to 1 hour and a half depending on the smoke.
